students and respect

the first few days of practicum was..alright. better than expected, actually. of course there are 'ugly' things here and there, but in all everything went well. the teachers at my school are very helpful and the admin/staff are friendly. the school, SMK Seksyen 27, is a very petite school, with having most of the facilities, and enough for its <600> students to learn in a conducive milieu.

speaking of the students..ah. they are naughty. some are just plain childish naughty, some are coming-of-age-the-world-hates-me kind of naughty, and some are just..evil. i know my emotions are speaking right now, but that is just the cold hard truth. kids these days are unmanageable by most teachers. respect is one thing they do not have for the teachers.

what do you have to do the get them to listen? first, the earn their respect. yes fellow teachers, we have to earn their respect. when they have respect for you, things get as easy as the highway for your teaching and learning process.

now, how do we earn their respect? having understood that students are different individual units with different sets of characteristics and antics, we have to first understand who they are and their style. it is very vague, the recommendations i try to search out there, but mostly, the experts suggest that we take some (could be a lot of) time to understand who our students are.

so, if you have suggestion or opinions on this, do leave a comment and share with the rest of the readers.

goodbye and take care for now :)
